Equal Access provides support and information for people from minority ethnic communities who are experiencing feelings of stress, isolation, depression, anxiety or unhappiness and are unable to access information about the services available.
The service aims to:
- develop mental health support services
- raise awareness of mental health issues amongst minority ethnic people
- identify barriers to accessing services
Support is offered in many ways: this may be short-term one to one support; befriending and peer support with volunteers; or support groups and providing information sessions.
The Equal Access team can communicate in many languages other than English.
Equal Access is available to anyone aged 18 or over and from a minority ethnic community, who is living in East Lothian. When you get in touch, you will be invited to meet for an initial chat to assess your needs. The team will work with you to identify your goals and provide support and information on the service available to help you to move forward.
