East Lothian Mental Health Physiotherapy.
The Physiotherapy team provide assessment and intervention for people who are under the care of the Joint Mental Health Team (JMHT).
Physiotherapists working in mental health have core skills which affect both the physical and mental health of people. the team support service users to safely and effectively increase levels of physical activity. Anticipated outcomes include improvement in mental health and physical wellbeing.
Moderate physical activity has been shown to improve health, and specifically improve mood. Physiotherapists can provide help and advice regarding the management of chronic pain, and fatigue problems.
The Team also provide three exercise groups per week: Introductory, Intermediate, and Advanced.

- People Experiencing Mental Health Difficulties
Applicants for this service should also meet this condition:
Adults aged 18 - 65 under the care of JMHT in East Lothian
Referral from within the JMHT - eg CPN, psyciatrist, OT etc.
