Stress Control Class (NHS Lothian)
Stress Control is a free course that can help you understand the stress and how to cope with is. The course has been successfully run for many years in the Lothians and is provided by NHS Lothian.
Service Description
It is a cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based self-help course, and can help you to manage stress better, and understand the connection between stress, anxiety and low mood.
You don’t have to be stressed to benefit. It can help you to avoid stress from building up in future.
There are six classes, each week focusing on a different aspect of stress and how it can affect you. The classes are taught as a lecture-style presentation with free booklets to accompany each class. This is not a therapy group and class members will not be required to share personal information during sessions.
Each week the class will focus on a different aspect of stress and how it can affect you. The sessions will cover:
- Introduction and information about stress
- Effects of stress on the body and controlling this
- Control your thoughts: learn to think your way out of stress
- Control your actions: boost self-confidence
- Control panic
- Control sleep problems and control your future.
The classes are free to attend and open to all.
