Bridges Project – Homemaker Service
Bridges Project is an independent, local charity which works with young people in East Lothian and Midlothian to help them manage the transition from adolescence to young adulthood and life beyond school.
Three practice teams deliver our work and objectives; Transitions, Skills for Life and Employability
Independent Living Support Workers supports young tenants and prospective young tenants, aged 15 to 25 years in East Lothian on a one-to-one basis and in small groups. The key aim is to develop the independent living skills of young people and to support them in maintaining and sustaining tenancies. She supports them with benefit and money management issues and delivers the SQA accredited Tenancy Award in conjunction with Borders College. She runs groups for pregnant and young mums who are tenants or have a housing need, in partnership with health professionals and other agencies involved in health and wellbeing.

This service accepts direct self referrals.

Bridges Project is a charity which provides a number of services to assist young people to manage transitions into adulthood and life beyond school in East Lothian and Midlothian. Services are offered on a voluntary basis and are free and confidential. Our objectives are to assist young people with:
- improving their employability, training and education-related skills
- managing their move to independent living
- developing skills which will help them manage a job, a house, relationships etc
- becoming more active members of the community
- realising their potential
