It can be a difficult time of year. This year, we also face new challenges, unknowns and stresses over the festive period from coronavirus. That’s why we’re focusing this booklet on the things that we can all do to keep ourselves well this winter.

It includes resources to help people cope with the unique challenges that they are facing, like grief, loneliness and staying connected. It also brings together a range of helpful contacts and has some craft ideas.

Royal Voluntary Service (RVS) East Lothian
RVS has been continuing to provide volunteer transport to essential medical appointments since March and plan to continue this through the whole of the holiday period. However, there may be limitations on Christmas day, boxing day, and the new year bank holidays. Support is also available with shopping, and safe and well calls.

This service is primarily for older people living in East Lothian, but at the moment RVS can offer transport support to other vulnerable people, where they have no other source of transport. Transport to GP appointments can be requested through the GP practice, and other transport to hospital appointments and requests for help with shopping or calls can be made by calling 01875 811 011.

All our support is delivered by volunteers, so the team may not be able to help with all requests, but RVS is aiming to do as much as it can to help people through the pandemic, and find alternative support when RVS cannot help.
